This workshop will show you how to make posy brooch Dorset buttons. We'll start with a crosswheel, the most popular and easiest style to make, if you haven't made buttons before. Then we'll progress through various stitching techniques to make your own piece. We'll cover threads, rings, tools and a little history. We'll also explore different ways of using them.
You can bring up to 8 people for this workshop. The price is for the time, not per person. Let us know how many before the day.
You will need 3-4 closed rings 35mm in diameter, 20m of sock yarn or cotton perle 5 weight in at least 2 different colours, a size 18 tapestry needle, small brooch backs, a sharp needle with a large enough eye to take the thread, a needle threader (the simple kind with wire), a selection of contrasting beads, and scissors. Materials are available to buy if you’d prefer. This workshop includes a 1 hour lunch break which has not been charged for.
